Christophe, owner of the sailboat *Corail*, outlines the maintenance and logistical preparations required before a planned passage from the United States to Martinique. The vessel currently requires antifouling paint, which is difficult to source in red, and replacement of the lazy bag, which he intends to have custom-made with Kevlar-reinforced thread.5:39 Other identified maintenance needs include repairing a cracked polycarbonate window, addressing a faulty shore power battery charger, and managing a broken toilet pump.9:05 He has decided to defer repairs on the bow thruster and watermaker to save costs and simplify the refit.8:01

The planned route involves navigating south through the Lake Champlain locks and Catskill, followed by a transit to New York before an Atlantic crossing to Saint-Martin and finally Martinique.13:23 Departure is scheduled between September 15 and October 1, allowing a safety margin for potential lock closures and customs delays.13:36 Christophe is actively seeking experienced crew members for the passage, noting that the route will likely involve upwind or beam-reach sailing conditions rather than favorable downwind weather.16:29 He emphasizes the necessity of B1/B2 visas for U.S. waters and the logistical challenges of securing embassy appointments.15:34
