Damien bonds two new glass windows into Brupeg's forward cabin using Fixtech 200 flexible adhesive sealant, replacing a leaking plastic temporary window that has failed for years.5:57 The process covers surface preparation with methylated spirits, masking with blue tape to create a clean chamfer line, cutting a strip from the protective plastic film to expose the bonding zone, and applying sealant without air bubbles — a critical step because Brupeg's windows lack a ceramic band to hide voids.28:11 Damien explains why bonded windows have replaced bolted aluminium-framed windows on steel boats: the aluminium frames corrode over time, while bonded glass allows hull flex, is UV stable, and meets survey requirements.10:24 Survey rules require 30 mm of glass-to-steel overlap; Brupeg uses 50 mm.10:59 The glass itself is 10 mm toughened automotive-marine grade, chosen over laminated glass for impact resistance against green water at the bow.19:14 The same cabin work includes needle-gunning bare steel, applying two-pack etch primer, and fitting insulation between hull ribs.9:58 A parallel winch control-box wiring job — isolating the negative circuit to keep the boat above ground — is paused while parts arrive.0:35 Air bubbles trapped under sealant are cosmetic, not structural, but Damien shows a previous window where they are visible and explains the technique to avoid them.28:29
