The Miami Boat Show featured four new 40-foot monohulls—the Beneteau 371, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410, Dufour 41, and Catalina 425—each highlighting evolving design trends in modern production yachts.0:13 Common features across the fleet include twin helms, fold-down transoms, and solid vangs.1:02 The Beneteau 371 utilizes a backstay-less rig with raked spreaders, while the Jeanneau 410 introduces a "wraparound" cockpit with sloped side decks that eliminate coaming steps.1:15 The Dufour 41 emphasizes beam and deck space, utilizing external chain plates and a factory-applied hull wrap, though it lacks a dedicated anchor locker.10:00 The Catalina 425 prioritizes maintenance accessibility, featuring a dedicated service locker for the engine, fuel filters, and steering quadrant, alongside inboard chain plates and a traditional traveler.16:20 While the Beneteau and Jeanneau offer modern, open-plan interiors, the Catalina focuses on traditional joinery and wood-grain matching.16:36 These models demonstrate a shift toward specialized cockpit ergonomics and simplified maintenance access, though some designs raise concerns regarding sail trim limitations and water drainage.
