Khiara spends several weeks alone aboard the Tayana Vancouver 42 Millennial Falcon, wintering in Oban, Scotland, while Adam returns to Australia, systematically gutting and rebuilding rotted interior woodwork throughout the saloon, aft cabin, and galley.0:05 The core problem is severe condensation: surfaces are slick with water, plywood layers are delaminating, and painted walls have failed.3:05 Her approach is to strip the damaged panels, replace them with 3mm plywood, and glue foam board insulation behind the new panels.1:30 Despite insulating the side walls, condensation persists — until she buys a dehumidifier recommended by other sailors at the marina.8:47 The result is immediate: interior temperature rises from 5–8°C to 18°C, and condensation disappears entirely; the unit draws 350 watts at full power.12:24 Adam returns for the final phase — gluing foam mat sections between the overhead slats under the roof lining using contact cement, with the void below the coaming treated as a priority area.10:46 A mooring line chafes through during an easterly blow that exposes the marina to a mile of open fetch; Adam catches it before damage occurs.16:35 A late-December snowstorm arrives as the insulation job finishes.16:09 The dehumidifier, not the foam insulation, proved the decisive fix for condensation on a cold-weather liveaboard.11:53
