Alex and Cory move their family, including a newborn and a toddler, onto their sailboat in mid-July to prepare for a southward passage.5:05 With a two-week deadline to launch and complete sea trials before the Erie Canal closes for the season, the crew prioritizes below-the-waterline maintenance, including tightening keel bolts and addressing a leaking water tank.2:32 The tank, located near the galley, bows under pressure and leaks into the cabin due to a blocked vent.8:26 The crew also replaces leaking stanchions and reinstalls the Bimini and dodger.12:11 During a rainstorm, they identify additional cabin leaks that require immediate attention.13:44 The project timeline faces a setback when the marina prohibits overnight stays and restricts work to specific operating hours, forcing the family to camp in their vehicles.13:22 The crew emphasizes the necessity of verifying marina policies before scheduling major refit work.13:44
