Qué cubre este vídeo

Construction of a 50-foot sailboat hull requires extensive fairing and sanding to achieve a smooth finish. After applying a full layer of fairing compound to both sides of the hull, the builder uses a power sander to break the shiny epoxy surface before finishing with a longboard.5:44 To improve efficiency, the builder fabricates a custom 350-millimeter sanding disc using a Shaper Origin CNC cutter, a styrofoam core, and 600-gram fiberglass laminate.15:43 This rigid, lightweight disc attaches to a 1400-watt polisher equipped with a speed controller and constant electronics to maintain torque at lower RPMs.17:54 Applying fairing in a single vertical pass remains difficult due to the need to shift body position, which creates ridges in the compound.13:22 The builder plans to use a guide coat to identify low spots for localized filling, reducing the need for full-surface applications in subsequent rounds.14:32 Consistent pressure and angle on the longboard are essential for achieving a fair surface, despite the physical strain on the operator.13:29
