Qué cubre este vídeo
To prepare for an Arctic voyage, the crew of the 40-year-old vessel *Florence* performed a comprehensive refit focused on hull maintenance, thermal insulation, and safety equipment. During a haul-out, they pressure-washed the hull and inspected the anodes, discovering that the propeller anode had worn prematurely due to a poor electrical ground connection, which they corrected by replacing the wiring to the engine block.11:07 They serviced the feathering propeller and inspected the bronze Blake's seacocks.5:08 To manage condensation in high-latitude temperatures, they insulated galley cupboards with closed-cell foam and vinyl, and added suction-cup covers to saloon windows and hatches.24:19 The crew also replaced a worn steering component to eliminate play in the system.30:08 For safety, they acquired immersion suits and upgraded life jackets with integrated AIS transmitters.31:41 They outsourced canvas work, including new spray hood windows and a mainsail cover zipper, to a local sail loft, while performing their own sail repairs using a drill to create stitch holes in heavy fabric.18:00 They also prepared for international gas refilling by acquiring a range of adapters for Norwegian and camping-style bottles.21:45
