Qué cubre este vídeo
Jo and Timo, living full-time aboard their Open 66 raceboat NV, are replacing their existing engine with a Nanni Diesel unit. The decision to repower stems from a need for increased horsepower to handle strong currents and high-wind anchoring situations, where their current engine struggles to maintain speeds above five knots. The crew prioritized a mechanical, analog engine design with minimal electronics to ensure they can perform repairs independently in remote locations. They selected Nanni Diesel for its global parts distribution, reputation for reliability, and use of Kubota base blocks. The transition from a race-oriented setup to a cruising configuration requires significant modifications to the engine compartment, as the new components differ in size from the original installation. The crew plans to document the installation process, including the necessary structural adjustments and the replacement of peripheral components, in subsequent updates.
