Chacachacare. Antigua colonia de leprosos

Qué cubre este vídeo

The abandoned leper colony on the island of Chacachacare features a series of decaying wooden structures, including a former hospital for men and a separate facility for women. Originally inaugurated in 1845, the site later served as military barracks during World War II. The buildings are currently being reclaimed by the surrounding jungle, with many floors and roofs in advanced states of structural collapse. Hazards include unstable wooden flooring, missing planks, and the presence of local wildlife, specifically vultures and venomous snakes. The site contains remnants of the original hospital, such as iron bed frames and communal shower and laundry areas. Some interior walls feature aged graffiti dating back to the early 2000s and unusual human-like markings. Access to the island requires a dinghy, which can be moored at a small pier near the ruins.
