Qué cubre este vídeo
Juho and Sohvi prepare their boat for a transit of the Northwest Passage, focusing on mechanical maintenance and equipment upgrades to handle extreme northern conditions. The crew installs adjustable Light Leaf solar panels on the rails to maximize power generation when the sun remains low on the horizon. To manage moisture and temperature, they add insulation to the floorboards and the underside of lazarette hatches. Maintenance tasks include adjusting engine valve lash, extending the alternator regulator wiring harness, and inspecting the cooling system for corrosion around the O-rings. Juho also climbs the mast to install a new spinnaker halyard and verify the integrity of the rigging. While navigating near the Cook Inlet, the crew faces challenging tidal currents and prepares for upcoming passages through the Shelikof Strait, Unimak Pass, and the Bering Strait, where they anticipate heavy seas and ice. The boat currently encounters 30-to-40-knot winds while attempting to outrun a low-pressure system.
