The crew of the catamaran Calypso is replacing an unreliable Spectra watermaker with a new Blue Water unit after years of maintenance issues and repeated system failures.▶ 1:34 The previous Spectra unit produced only nine gallons per hour and required frequent, costly repairs that forced the crew to cut short multiple cruises to remote islands.▶ 3:05 To accommodate the new system, the crew is upgrading the electrical wiring to a heavier gauge and removing old carpeting that obstructed access to through-hulls and engine spaces.▶ 9:23 Additional maintenance tasks include installing new trampolines made of Dyneema, addressing a mildew outbreak, and decluttering the galley and storage areas.▶ 7:11 The crew also tested a Ride Safer travel car seat for their child to improve safety and storage efficiency during transit.▶ 5:35 Following the installation and commissioning of the new watermaker, which produces approximately 25 gallons per hour, the vessel is departing for a scheduled haul-out to perform further maintenance and upgrades.▶ 9:37
