The owners of a Beneteau Oceanis 43, currently docked in New Bern, North Carolina, modify their salon layout to increase floor space and restore a guest cabin.2:17 They remove a bulky, under-utilized center seat from the salon, which previously narrowed the walkway and obstructed access to the lounge.1:43 To replace the seat's function as a footrest and to free up space in the port aft cabin, they relocate a portable fridge-freezer to the center of the salon.2:17 The installation involves rerouting the freezer's DC power supply to an existing 12-volt circuit previously used for a refrigerator drain pump.6:23 After verifying the circuit with a voltmeter, they splice the connection using heat-shrink connectors and secure the unit in place.15:20 The project also includes a deep cleaning of the bilge area beneath the removed seat, where condensation and debris had accumulated.4:49 The new configuration allows the freezer to slide partially under the salon table, significantly widening the cabin walkway.20:01
