Picking the best dinghy anchor | Grapnel, Claw or Mantus Anchor?

¿Qué cubre este video?
A Mantus dinghy anchor, a claw-style anchor, and a folding grapnel anchor are tested for holding power in sand and mud. Testing occurs on a beach in wet sand and from a dinghy in seven feet of water with a 1.5-knot tide. The claw anchor holds well at idle but bounces when the engine is put into reverse in mud. The grapnel anchor fails to hold in mud and requires manual placement in rocks or weeds to secure the dinghy. The Mantus anchor, weighing approximately 2.5 pounds, consistently holds the dinghy in both sand and mud, even when the engine is throttled in reverse. The crew concludes that the Mantus anchor provides superior holding power compared to the claw and grapnel styles, though they plan to retain the grapnel for use in rocky terrain. Proper scope, defined as at least three times the water depth, remains essential for all anchor types to ensure they dig into the bottom.
