Damien Guillou walks through the interior of his GGR 2026 entry, a production sailboat stripped back for solo circumnavigation, explaining how he has organized roughly 6½ months of solo living into a compact midships zone.1:31 His chart table and sea berth sit side by side; a small compass mounted at the berth lets him monitor heading without leaving his bunk if the wind shifts.Watch He notes that working at the chart table is awkward when the boat heels, but sliding into the berth on a lean is easy.Watch A folding tablet shelf doubles as a mid-boat watch station where he can cook seated, keeping weight and activity centered.1:14 The sextant has a fixed stowage pocket within arm's reach of the nav station.1:37 The original forward saloon has been gutted and converted to a sail locker holding spare sails, anchor, extra water jerricans, and equipment bags; additional jerricans supplement the fixed water tank.1:31 The forward cabin is similarly stripped to pure stowage.2:10 Guillou describes his entire living environment as the few feet between the chart table and the galley — small, he says, but functional and comfortable enough for a solo lap of the globe.1:30
