Ertan, a GGR 2026 entrant, has purchased Matmut — the Rustler 36 that Jean-Luc van den Heede sailed to win the 2018 Golden Globe Race — and renamed her Miss Beagle.20:48 Don McIntyre and three-time BOC veteran Robin Day conduct a walkthrough of the boat at Les Sables-d'Olonne roughly four and a half months before the race start.18:20 The boat sold for around $95,000 and came with a full unused set of GGR sails, a replacement mast and new standing rigging, a Watt & Sea hydrogenerator, a Hydravane wind vane with emergency tiller, and a fax machine.5:44 Jean-Luc's GGR modifications are intact: cockpit lockers glassed in and sealed with separate watertight hatches, a soft fluorescent dodger, all halyards and mainsail-handling gear led aft, the forward cabin bulkhead sealed off from the rest of the boat, and oversized windows reinforced with a structural bolt-through bar to avoid stormboards.4:42 The Volvo-green engine, reportedly a rebadged Perkins, is low-hours and has been run every four to five months.14:50 Ertan reports the boat was ready to launch within a week of purchase and carries three months of provisions already aboard.19:03
