Mads installs LED lighting throughout the saloon of his sailboat, Athena, to improve visibility for interior refit work during the dark Danish winter.0:54 He selects 0.8-watt LED fixtures with a warm color temperature and uses a 54-millimeter hole saw to mount them in straight lines along the headliner, guided by a self-leveling laser placed on the cabin sole.6:04 To allow for future wiring changes, he uses Wago connectors to join the 1.5-square-millimeter copper wiring.7:35 Because the light fixtures feature raw copper leads rather than tinned wire, he applies dielectric grease to the crimped connections and solders the wire ends to prevent corrosion.10:53 He powers the system with a 6-amp pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimmer and tests the circuit using a battery charger set to power supply mode.11:55 Additionally, he begins routing insulated PEX tubing for a future diesel heater installation, planning to mount the unit on a forward bulkhead.13:56
