Kent Blair completes the floorboard assembly for a 1980 Drascombe Lugger named ONKAHYE.Watch He aligns the starboard floorboards by flipping them upside down and positioning them atop the finished port side boards to ensure symmetry.0:08 To secure the cleats to the underside of the planks, he uses a combination pilot and countersink bit followed by number 10 by 1 1/4 inch silicone bronze screws driven with an impact driver.0:25 He alternates the screw placement across the planks to prevent the boards from shifting or wandering.1:54 After attaching the cleats, he drills finger holes into the planks to facilitate removal for maintenance and cleaning.2:12 He designs the gaps between the boards to be wide enough for finger access, which also improves airflow to the bilge.2:30 The process concludes with a light sanding of the completed port and starboard floorboard sets.2:08
