Aubrey of Sailing Miss Lone Star joins Bobby White of Sailing Doodles and friend Taylor aboard a chartered catamaran in the Saronic Islands, Greece, recording a podcast episode in Poros in August.0:30 The group sailed without air conditioning in 25-knot winds, at one point carrying two reefs in the main; Aubrey notes the Saronic Islands are normally light-air sailing, making the week's conditions unusually good.8:53 Port fees ran nine euros per stop, with power an additional seven euros — a sharp contrast to $60 mooring balls in the BVI.10:38 Aubrey recounts sailing the Mediterranean from Barcelona through Sardinia to Gaeta, Sicily, and Malta, and transiting the Panama Canal twice, including once with newborn baby Violet strapped to her chest after stopping in Costa Rica to give birth.5:11 She and Taylor are shopping for a catamaran, having inspected a Leopard 50 in Panama (rejected for poor condition) and a Leopard 58 in Richard's Bay, South Africa (six cabins, seven heads, crew quarters forward).28:07 Aubrey also runs a sailing education program at sailingmisslonestar.com, with in-person and digital options launching within a month.26:05 A Garmin satellite communicator comes up briefly in the context of solo overland travel safety.16:46
