The Leopard 58 is a 17.6-meter fractional sloop catamaran designed by Simonis Voogd Design and built by Robertson and Caine from 2011 to the present. With a beam of 8.5 meters and a draft of 1.8 meters, it displaces 28,000 kg and was primarily built for the charter trade, also marketed as the MOORINGS 5800. Aboard *Sailing Big Lost*, the crew owned a 62-foot Leopard, which they found too large and complex for their family of four, citing excessive space, five heads, and six televisions that increased maintenance demands.8:24 They sold their 62-foot Leopard after nine months and 4,000 nautical miles, transitioning to a smaller catamaran under 50 feet for easier single-handed blue-water passages.4:32 The crew encountered significant financial losses when purchasing their 62-foot Leopard due to undisclosed charter contracts and unpaid maintenance bills.7:47
