Ben and Alie, sailing their 80s-era sailboat Kiana, anchor at the white sand beach of Hanamenu in the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia. The crew reports poor holding in the anchorage, prompting Alie to dive and inspect the anchor; she attaches a fender to the chain to keep it off the coral and ensure the anchor sets properly. The couple uses a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) donated by EnjoyTheRideCo to reach the shore for a beach bonfire and barbecue. Ben prepares a cooking pit by collecting rocks and firewood to establish a coal base for grilling chicken. The anchorage hosts several other cruising vessels, including Calico Skies, Castle Underway, Promise Capped, and Someday Island, which join the birthday celebration. The location features shallow, shore-breaking waves that the crew deems too dangerous for surfing.
