Keith Whitaker describes this shift as a transition from full-time cruising to developing skills for off-grid survival, including hunting and building a barn shop with guest quarters. The family intends to return to the boat by next summer to resume sailing, with potential plans to explore the Northern Pacific and Indonesia. Additionally, the crew is organizing a Blue Water Cruising event scheduled for January 2026 at Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys, which will feature classroom instruction and community gatherings for prospective cruisers.
