The Takacat inflatable catamaran dinghy offers a stable, high-capacity alternative to traditional rigid-hull or standard inflatable tenders. The boat packs into two bags weighing a total of 35 kg and inflates quickly using an electric pump. Its catamaran design allows it to plane easily with smaller motors, reducing the weight burden when lifting the engine on or off the mothership. During testing, an electric outboard reached a top speed of 8.1 knots before experiencing power delivery issues, while a 4-horsepower Yamaha 2-stroke outboard achieved 11.5 knots. The open-bow and open-transom design effectively sheds water, though proper weight distribution remains necessary to prevent spray from entering the cockpit in choppy conditions. Despite its PVC construction, the dinghy features high-quality detailing and provides significant interior space. The catamaran hull configuration maintains stability even when carrying a load, though planing performance decreases significantly with a full family on board.
