Leading the Escapade · video

Cosa tratta questo video

The crew of Escapade replaces an unreliable Desalinator watermaker with a SeaWater Pro unit ahead of a Pacific crossing, citing the old system's drop from 60 to 40 litres per hour output and a price difference of roughly $10,000–$15,000 versus $4,000.0:47 The new system runs two membranes and produces approximately 150–160 litres (40 GPH) per hour, drawing around 850 watts AC and 75–85 amps DC — compared to 60–70 amps for the old unit's 40-litre output.16:37 Installation covers assembling the motor and high-pressure pump, reconfiguring wiring from 110V to 220V, drilling new holes through under-couch storage for the longer membranes, routing brine discharge through the hull, and mounting the control panel.10:04 The video details membrane flow direction (low-pressure and high-pressure loops), the five-micron and 20-micron pre-filter setup, a TDS reader included in the package, and SeaWater Pro's patented pressure regulator that holds 800 PSI while allowing 40 PSI rinse without backing off pressure.18:19 A critical commissioning note: flush fresh water through membranes for 5–10 minutes, soak for at least six hours, then discard the first 30 minutes of production before drinking.12:34 The boat's 300–350-litre tank capacity means the system can top up tanks in roughly two hours of daily running.15:47
