Jade and Ben Couturier recently completed a transit of the Northwest Passage aboard their Navy 44, *Caprivi*.7:30 The couple purchased the vessel in 2016 and spent five years in the Florida Keys performing an extensive interior and systems rebuild while living aboard.7:40 They departed Florida in June 2022, sailing up the U.S. East Coast to Maine before heading south to the Caribbean.37:59 During a stop in Antigua in May 2023, the pair finalized their decision to head north toward Alaska, a route Ben had considered since his youth in the region.54:47 They completed the voyage in October 2023 with the assistance of a friend, Josiah, who joined them for the northern transit.8:05 The refit process was heavily influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to remain stationary for citizenship requirements, allowing for a more thorough reconstruction than originally planned.34:11 The couple utilized their background in marine electrical work to modify the boat specifically for high-latitude conditions.34:06
