A 1970 Westwind Payship 24 sailboat, neglected for decades, undergoes a full interior gut and fiberglass grind as the first phase of a restoration.Watch Andy strips all interior hardware, then spends several weeks sanding and grinding the fiberglass surfaces to expose previous repairs, etch the substrate for new paint or layup, and smooth the interior.0:57 Before rebuilding begins, he pressure-washes the entire boat inside and out using a Giraffe Tools Crossfalls Ultra pressure washer to clear fiberglass dust and debris.2:23 The unit delivers roughly 2.5 gallons per minute, features adjustable pressure via interchangeable nozzles — wide fan, narrow, and turbo — and uses an induction motor for quiet, instant on/off operation.3:33 Its 50-foot auto-retracting hose eliminates manual coiling.3:11 Andy evaluates two mounting options: a wall-bracket mount for fixed shop use and a mobile cart for portability between home, shop, and marina.7:01 Roughly 40–50 gallons flushed through the interior left no fiberglass dust remaining.6:25 The practical takeaway: pressure-washing after grinding is faster and more thorough than solvent-wiping by hand, and a clean substrate before rebuilding prevents hidden problems later.
