Upon reaching the shallow, buoyed channel at Lindisfarne in pitch-black conditions, the boat’s propeller became fouled by a lobster pot line, forcing a wait for daylight to safely anchor. Once anchored, the sailor struggled with a flooded diesel heater exhaust, which was resolved by draining the pipe and drying the burner unit with engine heat. Strong currents and 30-knot winds in the anchorage prevented safe dinghy transit for three days until conditions briefly moderated.
