A sailing group's 2023 San Juan Islands cruise opens with a taco bar dinner prepared aboard one of the fleet's boats.Watch Kate, the cook, describes three proteins: shrimp in a garlic, wine, cilantro, and butter sauce; bison with Mexican seasonings; and Impossible Burger loaded with beans and spices. Guests chose corn or flour tortillas and built their tacos from a condiment spread that included guacamole, cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes, and seven salsas, among them New Mexico varieties contributed by a crew member named Gene. The meal ended with apple tacos and caramel sauce. No navigation, seamanship, or technical sailing content appears; the focus is entirely on provisioning and meal preparation for a multi-boat cruising group in the San Juan Islands.
