The crew of the 45-foot catamaran *Nandji - Frothlyfe* completed a 600-mile passage from Reunion Island to the northern tip of Madagascar, Cape D'Ambre.0:08 The transit involved two distinct phases: a relatively calm initial crossing in trade winds, followed by a challenging 150-mile stretch along the eastern coast of Madagascar.0:13 During this second phase, the crew encountered 25- to 30-knot winds with squalls reaching 40 to 50 knots, creating a confused, three-meter sea state.8:20 To manage the conditions, the crew reduced sail to a headsail only and maintained a position roughly 20 miles offshore to stay in deep water while navigating the shelf.6:18 Despite concerns about rounding the headland in darkness, the wind dropped to 15 knots and the seas flattened as they approached the Cape.15:19 Upon clearing the northern tip, the vessel entered the calmer waters of the northwest coast.15:46 The crew caught a wahoo while transitioning into the cruising grounds of the Mozambique Channel.18:00
