Chris and Karmen sail their boat, *Vanishing Point*, from their current location to Marina Del Rey to address a persistent vibration in the propeller shaft.1:00 Suspecting a worn cutlass bearing, they haul the boat at a local yard to perform a full inspection of the underwater gear.16:01 Upon removal, the cutlass bearing shows significant wear, though the stern tube remains in good condition.18:54 The crew also discovers superficial pitting on the prop shaft, which they repair using JB Weld.19:11 Because the vessel is equipped with a Hydroline propeller—a brand uncommon in the United States—they disassemble and service the unit to address blade play.19:32 Additionally, the yard’s travel lift allows them to drop the rudder to replace a bushing, a repair they previously could not complete in Mexico due to equipment limitations.20:27 The project aims to eliminate shaft vibration and restore the integrity of the rudder assembly.
