Curtis, Kate, and their dog Roxy maintain a conservative 80% of polar boat speed during the first night to manage squalls, then increase to 100% as conditions stabilize. The crew sails the final 12 miles inside the atoll upwind, tacking in 17 knots of breeze to reach the mooring field near the yacht club. Navigating the Majuro pass in the dark requires identifying buoys and managing local current, though the crew is familiar with the entrance. The vessel maintains a 28-degree upwind angle while adjusting the staysail trim and mainsail traveler for each tack. Following this arrival, the crew prepares for an 1800-mile passage south across the equator to Fiji.
