Hva denne videoen dekker
The crew of Big Lost performs multiple maintenance tasks while cruising in Sint Maarten, including alternator replacement, oil changes, and through-hull valve repair. After installing new 90-amp alternators, the owner blows a fuse and fries one unit by failing to upgrade the existing 80-amp fuses to 100-amp capacity. The crew re-installs the original 70-amp alternator while the damaged unit undergoes a rebuild. Separately, the crew identifies a leak in the black water tank valve caused by a broken tooth on the valve assembly. To facilitate the repair, the owner inserts a silicone bung into the through-hull fitting from the outside to prevent water ingress while replacing the valve's O-ring. The family also conducts routine oil and filter changes on the engines, emphasizing the importance of keeping oil off drive belts to prevent slippage. Between projects, the crew visits Maho Beach and Kimsha Beach, utilizes local chandleries for parts like Dyneema line, and teaches their children to operate the dinghy.
