Mads installs a custom-laminated hardwood beam and matching trim to finish the cabin entrance on the sailboat Athena.0:13 To ensure a flush fit against the curved cabin top, he cuts the beam at a 92-degree angle and uses an angle grinder to make incremental adjustments.1:54 He secures the beam using thickened epoxy and temporary supports, allowing it to cure for 24 hours before removing the supports.5:00 He then fabricates and installs trim pieces to cover the gaps left by the removal of a temporary bulkhead support.6:13 To finish the trim, he rounds over the corners with a router for a cleaner aesthetic and better ergonomics.8:00 Additionally, he patches a section of plywood near the companionway using 18mm plywood, glass, and fairing compound.10:11 The project concludes with the design of a new arched door frame for the head, which he prepares by laminating wood in the workshop.12:57
