O que este vídeo aborda
Matt and Jessica reinforce the bow-to-hull joints on their catamaran by bonding the nose cones with methacrylate and applying two layers of 12-ounce fiberglass cloth. To ensure structural integrity, Matt grinds the flange areas, applies resin, and uses a fin roller to remove air bubbles before sealing the seams with Peel Ply. Jessica prepares the interior bulkhead surfaces by removing excess cured adhesive with a mouse sander and 80-grit sandpaper, creating a keyed surface for the interior fiberglass layup. This process eliminates water leaks that previously allowed rain to pool inside the hulls. The pair subsequently fair the exterior seams using TotalBoat TotalFair compound, sanding and priming the surfaces to blend the new sections with the existing hull. With the bows watertight, they transition to interior tasks, including fairing engine beds for electric and hybrid propulsion systems and constructing a prototype helm seat from Nidacor and foam. Proper surface preparation and keying are essential for ensuring a strong, long-term bond between fiberglass and structural foam.
