What this video covers

Djé and Nad perform structural repairs to the anchor locker and windlass mounting area on their catamaran while at anchor in 20- to 32-knot winds. The project involves fabricating and bonding a reinforced plywood backing plate to the deck structure to support the windlass. The crew uses a 450-gram fiberglass cloth for the base layer, followed by a heavier 600- to 800-gram structural layer, and finishes with a peel-ply to ensure a smooth, bubble-free surface. To manage the resin application over large surfaces, they use a standard paint roller, removing loose fibers with adhesive tape before use. The repair requires precise timing to bond the wood components and complete the lamination before weather conditions deteriorate. Despite gusty conditions and the lack of an operational windlass, the team successfully completes the structural lamination and seals the area with tarps to protect the work from rain.
