Crew installs new sunshade on Triteia in Langkawi
What this video covers
James, owner of the Alberg 30 *Triteia*, replaces a homemade Dacron cockpit sunshade with a custom-fabricated Sunbrella version created by Diamond Ingenious in Langkawi, Malaysia.1:24 The previous sail-cloth shade provided inadequate UV protection, leading to sunburns, and lacked the durability required for long-term cruising.10:40 The new shade features reinforced construction and a design that allows for easier folding and storage. During the installation process, the team marks and installs grommets directly on the boat to ensure precise tensioning and fit.11:19 The shop owner, William, notes that his business is currently booked through April 2026, highlighting the high demand for professional marine canvas and upholstery services in the region.17:33 The project concludes with the installation of temporary bungee lashings to test the shade's shape and roll-up functionality before finalizing permanent attachments.16:36
