A couple living aboard a Crossbow 40 in the Caribbean lost their young daughter, Antonella, in a drowning accident after she fell overboard while the boat was at anchor.9:53 The family had maintained strict safety protocols for their children, but the incident occurred at night while the child was sitting in the cockpit.10:00 Despite an immediate search by the parents and nearby vessels, the child was recovered from the water approximately eight minutes after she disappeared.15:31 The parents emphasize that drowning is a leading cause of death for children aged one to four and urge other liveaboard families to maintain constant vigilance, noting that even established safety routines can fail in an instant.16:05 The couple, who transitioned from a 23-foot Tor 23 to their current 40-foot vessel to pursue a minimalist lifestyle, continue to navigate the aftermath of the loss with the support of the cruising community.3:46
