One Helluva sail to Grenada! - Sailing Vessel Delos Ep.197

What this video covers

The crew of SV Delos prepares for an 82-mile passage from Trinidad to Grenada by performing maintenance, including repairing a vacuum cleaner motor, replacing dinghy fuel filters, and installing new Aqua Signal navigation lights. After picking up a Patreon-sponsored guest in Trinidad, the crew departs for an overnight sail. Forecasts predict 15 to 25-knot winds with 30-knot gusts from the northeast. Once offshore, the vessel encounters squalls with wind speeds reaching 40 knots. The crew struggles to make progress against a combination of strong headwinds and adverse currents, forcing them to tack repeatedly. After sailing 25 miles to gain only six miles of progress, the crew decides to motor-sail the final five miles into Grenada. Upon arrival, they are met by Rick Moore of the vessel Sophisticated Lady, who guides them through a reef-lined entrance into a pre-arranged marina slip.
