What this video covers

A 1999 Island Packet 45, currently listed for under $200,000, offers a robust platform for world cruising but requires a critical inspection of its chain plates.0:15 Island Packet transitioned from 304 to 316 stainless steel chain plates in late 1998; units manufactured before this switch are prone to failure and may require a $20,000 replacement.1:17 The vessel features a 28,000-pound displacement, a long keel, and a Yanmar 4J-HTE engine with 2,600 hours.1:51 Outfitting includes 800 amp hours of LiFePO4 batteries, 690 watts of solar, an Outback solar controller, and a Victron battery monitor.5:22 While the standing rigging age is unknown, the sails were replaced in 2021.6:00 The boat includes a 63-pound CQR working anchor, a 140-gallon fuel capacity, and three reverse-cycle air conditioning units.4:00 Prospective buyers should budget for electronics upgrades and a professional rigging survey to address the potentially original standing rigging.2:44 Negotiating the price based on the chain plate status remains a viable strategy for this model.6:25
