What this video covers

Living aboard a catamaran with six cats requires specific safety adaptations and a flexible approach to navigation. The owners of the catamaran *7 Vidas* manage the feline crew by utilizing the boat’s multi-level layout, which provides natural climbing opportunities, and by installing netting to prevent falls into the water.2:24 When cats do fall overboard, the boat’s low-profile stern and integrated swim ladder allow them to climb back on board independently.2:57 During rough passages or when exiting a harbor, the owners secure the cats inside the cabin to ensure their safety.10:37 The crew maintains a basic onboard pharmacy for the animals and coordinates with veterinarians to manage health concerns while cruising.9:44 To accommodate the cats, the boat features three litter boxes and dedicated scratching surfaces, while the owners sleep in the saloon to maximize living space.11:30 The transition to full-time cruising began during the pandemic, with the couple prioritizing weather windows and cautious decision-making over aggressive scheduling to avoid unnecessary risks.12:22 Choosing to wait for favorable conditions rather than forcing passages in heavy weather remains the primary strategy for maintaining a safe and manageable lifestyle at sea.15:21
