What this video covers

Ben and MP are preparing their wooden boat, Yabá, for launch after a three-year rebuild.0:06 To meet their goal of splashing before the project’s third anniversary in November, they have identified a list of critical tasks that must be completed while the vessel is on the hard.1:14 Underwater work is the primary priority, as access will be restricted once the boat is in the water.15:50 This includes applying anti-fouling paint, installing through-hull fittings for toilets and the engine, and mounting a transducer for depth and speed instruments.2:14 They also plan to install a sacrificial keel to protect the main structure from shipworms.3:18

Mechanical and structural tasks include connecting the prop shaft to the gearbox, installing four 220-liter diesel tanks, and setting up a 24-volt alternator with a controller for their four Battle Born lithium batteries.7:28 The steering system will utilize pulleys and stainless steel wires connected to the helm.5:05 To ensure the masts are self-supporting, they are installing four shrouds per mast before launch, leaving the stays for later adjustment.9:19 Finally, they are installing four bilge pumps to ensure water removal regardless of the boat's heel.16:20
