Maya and Aladino have completed the refit of their boat, Magic Carpet, and are preparing to cruise the British Columbia coastline. The pair plans to head north from their current location, prioritizing slow exploration of the region’s numerous inlets and islands over a direct transit to Alaska. Before beginning the northern voyage, the crew will transit to Gabriola Island to receive new sails and complete canvas projects, including a new saloon cushion and a pattern for a replacement dodger. Following these upgrades, they will conduct a music tour of the Gulf Islands to test the new sail inventory and familiarize themselves with the boat. The upcoming northern passage will include sailing in company with Allison and James, who operate a Catalina Yachts 30. To document the journey, the crew has upgraded their production gear with a new zoom lens and a stereo microphone setup intended to capture immersive environmental soundscapes. Maya also intends to begin cold-water diving along the coast.
