What this video covers
The owners of Yacht Zora are performing extensive deck modifications while the boat is in a shipyard. To eliminate deck leaks, they are removing through-bolted winches and welding custom-fabricated steel plates directly to the deck, onto which new Lewmar self-tailing winches will be mounted. The crew is also installing a new forward hatch and fabricating custom mounting points for a spray hood and full cockpit enclosure to avoid drilling excessive holes in the steel deck. During the welding process, a fire occurred when molten spatter ignited diesel fuel that had leaked from a temporary heater tank and soaked into fire-retardant foam below the deck. The owner sustained second-degree burns while extinguishing the fire. Additional refit tasks include refurbishing a wind generator with new bearings, polishing deck cleats, and preparing for the arrival of four new sails. The boat is scheduled for launch once final watertight integrity checks are completed and pending parts arrive for the engine.
