What this video covers
A liveaboard couple services their Viking life raft at Solution 1 Maritime in Tampa, Florida, as part of their preparations for an upcoming cruising season.6:14 The inspection process reveals the importance of periodic maintenance to prevent material degradation, such as mildew or mold, which can compromise the raft even if it appears intact.5:03 During the service, the technicians inflate the four-person raft to demonstrate its features, including the self-righting mechanism, inflatable boarding ramp, rainwater catchment system, and self-bailing elephant trunk.10:49 The demonstration also covers the operation of interior and exterior lights, the use of topping-up valves for manual inflation, and the proper storage of emergency gear.8:13 The couple emphasizes that while authorized service is expensive, witnessing the inflation process provides critical familiarity with the equipment's functionality.6:09 Separately, the couple re-homes their dog, Kaya, due to their toddler’s suspected allergic reaction to pets.3:15
