What this video covers
Andy performs several maintenance tasks on Solé, a Catalina 30, before taking the boat for a day sail in Long Beach. He replaces a bolt securing the anchor with a quick-release pin, requiring him to drill a larger hole in the anchor fitting.4:23 To prevent dropping tools overboard while working in the cockpit, he secures a lanyard to a newly installed stainless steel pad eye, which he seals with silicone and fender washers to prevent leaks.6:28 He also mounts a second mirror in the cabin to improve visibility while lying down.5:59 During the subsequent day sail with his son Orion and two dogs, Andy demonstrates the process of raising the mainsail and disengaging the autopilot to bear off.9:24 He notes that his solar array and 2,000-watt inverter successfully maintained a 100% battery charge while powering an ice maker, fridge, and Wi-Fi router throughout the outing.17:18
