LEAK NIGHTMARE: Water is back on board (and breaks the New Microwave!)

May 3, 2026 · 4 min · 3K views · Scarborough

Hand points to water leak inside sailboat cabin

What this video covers

A recurring water leak aboard the Beneteau Oceanis 50 Y2K has returned, this time damaging the new microwave and forcing Max and Ale to remove it.1:14 The leak originates in the same zone that caused problems during a 2014 incident at Fiji.0:55 To locate the source, they systematically soaked different areas with a hose — the bimini support, portlights, stoppers, rope organizers, a block, and the mainsheet traveler — and found water entering at the traveler.2:06 Suspecting the spray hood rail rather than the traveler itself, they re-bedded the rail with heavy silicone without removing it, a shortcut from the previous repair attempt.2:51 At the end of the test, the leak reappears, confirming the fix has not held.4:28 Alongside the leak, outstanding jobs include an engine repair awaiting a spare part, installation of two additional batteries, and new boards for extra fuel jerry cans.3:18 Departure is planned in roughly two weeks. Applying silicone over a spray hood rail without removing it failed to stop the leak a second time.4:28
