What this video covers
The crew of Supernova, currently docked at Shelter Bay Marina near the Panama Canal, uses HiBoy Pro Max electric scooters to explore the abandoned Fort Sherman military base.0:16 The site, formerly an American army barracks active until 1999, features original structures including a bus stop, basketball court, and barracks buildings like B507. The scooters, which feature full suspension and a 46-mile range, navigate the site's uneven terrain, mud, and hills.
Following the excursion, the crew addresses persistent leaks at the boat's chain plates, which penetrate the deck and have previously failed to seal with Sikaflex. To resolve the issue, they install custom 3D-printed clamping plates designed to compress a sealant bead against the deck and metal. They replace the previous sealant with Dow 795, a structural silicone adhesive, applying it to the mating surfaces of the 3D-printed parts before bolting them together to create a mechanical seal. Inspection confirms the chain plates remain free of pitting or rust despite the long-term water ingress. Mechanical clamping combined with high-grade structural silicone provides a more reliable seal for deck penetrations than sealant alone.
