EP39 - OLD $3500 Sailboat Goes ⚡️ HIGH TECH | PredictWind DataHub 💥

What this video covers

Andy installs a PredictWind DataHub on his sailboat, Solé, to integrate NMEA 2000 instrument data and broadcast it via Wi-Fi. The installation involves mounting the unit behind a panel near the battery box, connecting it to the NMEA 2000 network, and configuring it to use an external GPS antenna. The device bridges the boat's existing Raymarine Axiom 7 chart plotter and AIS system with wireless devices, allowing for internet connectivity via a T-Mobile hotspot and real-time vessel tracking. While the unit successfully broadcasts NMEA data to mobile devices, the owner notes that further configuration is required to display AIS targets on the Navionics app and to finalize the online tracking page. The DataHub also supports Iridium satellite connectivity for remote tracking during offshore passages. The project concludes with the replacement of main sheet and genoa sheet blocks to improve sail handling responsiveness.
