The Alden 32 MOTOR SAILER, designed by John G. Alden, Co. and built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard Ltd. from 1967 to 1973, is a 9.6-meter masthead sloop or ketch with a long keel. Originally known as the WINSOME CLASS, it displaces 6032 kg with a 1.4-meter draft and 3.2-meter beam.20:21 The boat is characterized by its pilot house design, which includes an interior helm and a panoramic Simrad chartplotter and radar station, though the elevated bow can create a blind spot for close-in objects.10:26 Below deck, the 32-footer typically features a three-burner propane galley, a V-berth, a forward head with a hand shower, and a watermaker.7:09 Aboard *keeldragger*, a 1969 Alden 32 MOTOR SAILER named *Lorraine* powered by a Westerbeke 40-hp engine, the boat cruises at 5.5–5.6 knots at 2,000 RPM, with vibration noted at 2,200 RPM.12:14 Under sail with the main only in light air and beam swells, it achieves four to five knots.16:55 The original Barlow winches are well-maintained, but the absence of a boom vang is a safety concern due to end-boom sheeting and a forward hatch blocking a vang attachment point.15:22 Ground tackle includes a Rachna 15 anchor and Maxwell windlass.8:00
