The C&C 44 CUSTOM is a 13.5-meter masthead sloop designed by Rob Ball and built by C&C Yachts from 1985 onward, with fewer than four units produced. This race-oriented variant of the C&C 44 features exotic materials, a modified deck and coachroof, an abbreviated interior, and a deeper keel, drawing 2.6 meters.17:47 The first hull was named 'Silver Shadow'.1:35 A 1985 C&C 44, with an all-red hull and mast, was reviewed by 59° North Sailing, noting its balsa-cored hull and deck construction, bolted-on lead keel, and 63-foot mast.11:06 The boat's sail-area-to-displacement ratio is 19.5, with a ballast-to-displacement of 47% and a Brewer comfort ratio of 27.20:32 The balsa core construction, common in C&C models, is a known vulnerability for water intrusion, as noted by 59° North Sailing.9:25
