The Hobie 14 is a 4.3-meter catamaran designed by Hobie Alter and built by Hobie Cat, notable as the first Hobie Cat model, introduced in 1967. It features a cat rig with a rotating spar, no daggerboards, and a displacement of 108 kg. Although production continued in Europe for several years, it was discontinued for sale in the US in 2004. A TURBO variant added a jib, increasing the total sail area to 13.75 square meters.8:18 Aboard Hashtag Sal, Armando recounts a solo passage from Guarujá to Cananeia on a Hobie Cat 14, where he capsized in a storm and relied on local assistance to recover the damaged boat.6:44
